An Evapco with a 250 ton Capacity
Cooling towers are tall hallow structures in which hot water is cooled by partial evaporation as it flows over a fill (black, honeycomb shaped material with in the cooling tower) before reusing it as a coolant. These are used for HVAC purposes for cooling buildings or in plant processes for removing heat.

The methods of heat transference are through dry cooling towers (which do not use evaporation, but an air heat exchanger), wet cooling towers or open circuit cooling towers, and fluid coolers or closed circuit cooling towers. All of these types of towers are generally used in conjunction with industrial chiller equipment in order to remove surplus heat. You can see how chillers work by viewing our blog, “What are Chillers?”.
